The Transport & Mass Transit Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allowed conditional issuance of route permits for motor cab taxis and rickshaws. The conditions are included that the taxies to be allowed route permits which should not be more than five years old at the time of issuance of route permits. The rickshaws to be allowed route permits have to be new / latest model, powered by only CNG or solar / electric.

The government has also decided to exempt above mentioned vehicles from the route permit fee for one year only, as incentive to encourage motor cab taxies and motor cab rickshaws powered by CNG or solar / electric. This covers new route permits only and not the old permits for motor cab taxies and motor cab rickshaws.
